Problems starting up

Our Sony TV a KD-65XE8505, bought 3-4 years ago has recently starting taking a lot of time starting up, the picture flickers, the sound goes on and off, and then after a minute or two, everything works fine and we can watch without anymore issues. This repeats itself every time we turn on the tv. Anyone having a clue where the problem could be, is it the TV or the Sony home cinema system, which is much older.

Have you disconnected the TV from the home cinema system this should tell you whether it is the TV or the home cinema system.

Have you tried emptying any caches on the TV, you should be able to do this via the Settings menu.

have you tried a factory reset, again you can do this via the Settings menu.

Is your TV still under warranty, some resellers offer 5 year guarantees.

If under warranty get someone out for a visit.
