These things are never easy at a distance and I can;t imagine what you have pressed to inhibit the TV's own remote from working... so all I can suggest is faultfinding from scratch.

It might also be worth you turning any relevant items connected to it OFF and then removing their connection/s... as I say, hard to know what is going on without seeing it for real.

First check your remote is actually transmitting by pointing it a digital camera (phone etc) and seeing if the IR LED on the remote flashes very brightly as viewed on the camera screen.

https://youtu.be/kTf4x5LJrKQ

If all else fails and the remote seems to be transmitting OK then you can try a full reset which returns the TV to OOB (out of box) state. Any updates to the TV firmware will still remain in place.

If you do this you have to set everything up as if it were brand new. I would recommend removing all external devices plugged into it first apart from the aerial.

https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/televisions-projectors-lcd-tvs-android-/kd-55xf8796/articles/00122829

Sony TV Remote

Good morning , I hope someone can point me in the right direction here.

I have a Sony Bravia TV , Model Nbr : KD-55XF8796.

I'm a Sky subscriber also.

At some time in the past year or 3 someone in my household pressed the wrong buttons on either the Sony remote or Sky remote & suddenly the Sony no longer worked & all functions / controls were from the Sky remote.

I think this happened by accident.

Now I want to go back to reuse the Sony remote , I'd taken these batteries out to stop any leakage so this should be possible.

What exactly can I do to achieve this ? thanks in advance.
