hey guys, this would the first of my many comments and posts!

First off, after reading all those thoughts on upgrading to ICS, I was very sad to know about the bugs :smileysad:, well it must have been dissapointing for those who waited long enough. but after reading those pro's and cons I don't think I would be giving my Xperia Active an Ice Cream Sandwich any time soon. If it gets released..
Well, unless sony releases a big update to fix those.

Well, since I think sony would (or should) release an update, I was thinking if I installed ICS on a Xperia Active Billabong Edition, would the wallpapers be gone? (not the ones in gallery but in the options when you select sony ericcson wallpapers, cause I don't think they are not the same one's in the gallery) and how about the billabong logo when you boot up the device would that vanish too?

you can backup everything on your phone (your current firmware) taste/test ICS and if you don't like it just go back to your original firmware.

if you get an update you should keep all this features, if you manually update they'll be gone but there might be a way to restore them, with a bit of work but you can get them back.

this is how to:

backup your firmware

backup your contacts, apps, etc

and flash ICS

cause I saw my friend's phone got the ICS update, and the "sony Ericsson" (when you boot up) was changed to just "sony" and followed up with "xperia".. (btw his phone is XPERIA MINI)

Currently in my device (not yet ICS) , after turning the phone on, I get the SE logo and the billabong logo.

so if suppose I backup the firmware and restore it to the phone with ICS, which one would come up?:smileyconfused:

Im so sorry for this "first world problem" hahaha I am only a month old to sony, (I've been a loyal Nokia user (symbian days) until I realize its time to move on)...

Well as far as I have read, ICS is much smoother and faster on the small-screen devices such as mini and mini pro. And the active is indeed the last to recieve the update, but I like to think of it this way; the last get the most stable update!

Hello do you have the .62 firmware for this model?when I downgrade to .42 I lost the billabong logo..which is a big deal to me hopefully they release ICS to one of the lucky billabong edition owner's SI soon...

So in short, If an Xperia Active Billabong Edition upgrades to ICS, it would loose its Billabong Branding. i.e. the custom wallpapers, Billabong logo at startup, .. It would be just like any other Xperia Active with only the back cover to remind you that you once had an Xperia Active Billabong Edition.

Xperia Active with Billabong edition still retains its trademark, when booted up, it shows "SONY" followed by "XPERIA" and finally the "BILLABONG LOGO"., and yes those cool surfing /sports wallpapers are still present.

guys i really2 need help

first test of ICS giving me headeache

and second i did downgrading back to GB, which the tutorial i found in this site.

the main problem is

i am losing my billabong edition original firmware.

after downgrading it doesnt show any billabong logo anymore at the start-up

pls help me where should i find GB firmware for my billabong edition XA.

really really appreciate if someone can enlighten my problem.

please help me.

ps: sorry for my english, its not my native language.

did you have the backup of your firmware? try flashing it back. you must have downgraded via the sony service center to be able to keep your Billbong logo/

no i didnt backup my previous FW.....

did i break my warranty if i did downgrade with other FW?

sony service center here in indonesia really annoying, send to jakarta and then wait 1 - 2 mnth

untill they send it back to you. (just for downgrading FW?? good lord, i've must be in wackyland)

i rather spend some money for a good service rather to sluggish service centre with no dedication to work. (lazy worker for example)

i also have search on xda and found someone who keep the original FW of GB XA billabong (indonesian), but it seems he/she didnt respond at all.....

why sonymobile didnt want to publish the original FW?

i didnt root my handhled

i didnt break my bootloader

why this must happen to me.....

ps: the one who downgrade this handheld is not me, its my super genious brother. who think everything is going to be ok.....well....it ended with his face getting red from a slapping for being idiotic instead genious.

you won't necessarily break your warranty. but if there are problems that arise from the use of those, the warranty would not cover it.

maybe you can wait for him,,

but it seems wootan didnt have any FW for XA - billabong edition.

its ok, i think i'll stick to this FW for a while.

untill i found original XA billabong FW.

and maybe, i'll post it everywhere for those who need em.

sonymobile didnt want to give the fw to us? and i will after i found it.

....I would really try to help, but my phone is still on warranty, if you can teach me how to do it without rooting and stuff... I can give you my firmware.. i don't know if it is enough to copy the bootloader animation.

he didnt update the phone since buying em.
