topic WiFi Issues in XA Series

Dear Sony,

Please tell me how you justify the nearly 6 month long issues with Wifi without a word? You clearly dont care. As fun as having to restart my phone 22 times a day is, i'd rather actually have a stable internet connection. Now, i know that this is a lot to ask in the year 2018, 24/7 internet on a connection you are already paying premium for; but would you believe your competitors manage it quite easily?

I get that problems occur, but this has been present FOR AGES! Version 7, version 8, makes no difference.

I had a Galaxy S4 for YEARS and it never stepped a foot out of line, words cannot describe how much i regret the day i said those 5 little words....."I'll try SONY this time...."

I have to actually choose between having my Fitbit connected, or turning the bluetooth off to get WiFi. Now its obvious you couldent care less, you would have actually pretended to make an effort if you did so lets just gloss over that, i have one simple question.

When do you intend to actually fix this, so that the phone has basic functionality? I know, it was only a £300 phone so im asking a bit much for WiFI and Bluetooth to work side by side.

Kind Regards,

Someone who wishes they stuck with Samsung.

I am wondering if anyone can help me. My wifi on my xperia xa ultra keeps disconnecting and won't reconnect. Sometimes after I restart the device it will work fine for a while then when I leave and come back it won't reconnect. (I live on a college campus with campus wide wifi) other times the phone jut won't connect to the wifi. I know it's not the router itself because my computer connects to it just fine.
I really want to fix this issue without having to buy another unit.

Welcome to the community.

I'm sorry you're having issues with your WiFi. Can you please try forgetting and reconnecting to the network? To do this, go to Settings > WiFi > Tap and hold on your WiFi connection, then choose "Forget network". Once you have done that, try to reconnect and see if there's any change.

Do you know if the issue happens with any other WiFi connections?

Ideally, if we could test it on another WiFi connection it would be best so we can confirm if the issue is with the phone or the WiFi network.

I understand that it is a university connection so you will be unable to adjust the settings for it, but there could still be a compatibility issue with your phone and the router.

Welcome to the community.

If it is functioning correctly in safe mode, then it would indicate that a third party app is causing the issue. Unfortunately, it's not easy to determine exactly what app is causing this to happen. The only real way to do this is to uninstall apps one by one until you find the one causing the issue.

Before you begin uninstalling apps, I recommend you make sure that all apps are up to date with the latest versions, as if an issue was present in the app, it may have been resolved with an update.

I have the same problem. The quickezt fix, as annoying as it is, is to turn off wifi and tben turn it on again. This usually sees the wifi signal and connects. This is a pain, but it is the only way short of restarting the phone.

XA Ultra - WIFI keep scanning forever

So, I bought XA Ultra like almost 2 month ago, I love it. It's an white model, and

But the problem is, It's keep scanning, it doesn't say it can't catch the wifi, nor no wifi is available. It just scans forever, So I always have to restart the phone to connect the wifi.(It does connect to wifi) Which is really annoying, and I want to fix it immdiately.

Anybody have the same issue as I have? I've been searching google, but XA Ultra is fairly new, so I can't find that much info.

Here is device info, If anybody can help, I would appriciate it.

I had hoped that the recent software update would have fixed this annoying problem, but it's now actually worse.

When I move to a new wifi zone (work, optimum wifi, Starbucks, etc), my phone will not see the wifi, despite them being already registered on my phone. On my wifi screen, it is completely blank, despite what I know are usualy multiple wifi souces in that area. Prior to the software update, I could resolve this problem simply by turning off the phone's wifi, and then turning it back on. It would then see and connect. Since the software update, I now have to go through the process of restarting my phone for it to see and auto connect. The same thing happens when I've been out and return home. My wife and kids never have this issue with their phones.

It is not the wifi signal that's the problem, as I've done troubleshooting with other phones and they do not enounter any connections problems. The problem is without doubt, the phone.

My phone is not rooted.

wifi/3g switching issue, annoying bug, wifi stucking in always "scanning"

Hello,

if this forum is place to SOLVING their bugs by developers rather than dilletetant clerk's advice then:

My router's wifi network to 3g and back again auto-switching doesnt work as in normal phones like mine samsung 2013 year of issue, which was capable to auto-switch between networks automatically (when enabled both functions in status bar) deppending of ip i was typing in chrome - for instance - 192.168.1.1 it switching to wifi network - www.google.com - it switching to 3g network. So what is wrong with these phone? I even setup autoconnect feature for ONE single wifi network, but device is constantly disconnecting of that wifi network when I start to use 3g internet and do never remmember to connect the same wifi network when I start to use wlan. It just stucking in "scunning" something (I already said that I setup wifi setting to autoconnect for single wifi network of the list). So what is the bug if wifi is stucking in lifetime "scanning" then? It probably wont reconnect to wifi as "No Internet Access Detected, won't automatically reconnect." Yes, on my home WLAN router "no internet access" as why I should have it there if my phone have the 3g internet? THIS IS THE BUG! Give it to fix to someone responsible for software on your side.

UPDATE: it wont reconnect 3g network from wifi wlan without completly switching wifi off too ???!!! Is that phone engeniered as a "system" or it is just some set of interindepended functions like separated wifi working in wifi mode only, with separated 3g working as 3g only untill you switch something off here, switch something else there? May somebody do wonder in your company , like "hey... but what is going to happen if user uses wifi and 3g enabled both" ....?

the solution to my post above - does sony adopt a bit android to their phones users? Than these is what SONY's IT dept should do instead of numerous users themself on their side
> adb shell
> settings put global captive_portal_detection_enabled 0
may that written down solution be implemented on Nougat's OTA updates? Or I am speaking with myself in here? Helloo? Anybody there?
