Xperia Go Jelly Bean Upgrade : Problem on phone calls

Hi,

I have successfully upgrated my XPeria Go to Jelly Bean and I'm facing a big problem with phone calls :

After dialling and pressing "call", the phone is completely frozen ! It remains frozen from several seconds to about 1 minute !! During this time I have no information about the call setup progress. The call can be established, and the celled party can talk "alone" : I'm not able to know when the call is established and to hear him speaking !!! Then, my phone is no more usable !!!!

I don't know if anyone has already experienced this problem ...

Hi all,

Ok, I installed Update Service and reset my smartphone, and now it's ok on phone calls.

Problem solved !!!

Update service? What is that supposed to be? If it's the 'repair' via PC Companion, I've tried it and it did no good.

Sony Update Service is slightly different tool. almost the same, yes.

Sorry, I wrote too fast. The problem is not solved for me with "Sony update service", but once the phone is restarted, the problem does not appear immediately.

To be more precise, I told the problem was on initiating phone calls. In fact, it is both when initiating and receiving phone calls. The phone application freezes (and sometimes disappears), then it comes back after tens of seconds. When trying to do something on the phone app GUI, I get after a few seconds "the phone activity does not answer. Would you like to close it ? Wait / Close" (translated from French).

I would say this problem is very critical, as phone calls can not be used in these conditions !!!

This is happening to me too.When i go to phone app to call someone and finally select anyone to call, app just closes.Then few seconds later phone calls the person i selected!Sometimes phone app gets frozen and i hit call button more than 1.When that happens, phone calls that person after a while, then after finishing the conversation, phone calls the same person again!Cause i hit it more than 1!!!

Also when i get a call i cannot open the call and talk.I open it, i wait for the app to open and thatis about 5 seconds cause in screen phone suddenly says that i've been talking for 5 seconds, the calling count does not start from 0.in those 5 seconds person on the other hand can hear me and i swear to the phone most of the time.This is too annoying, really too much.

Does this problem occur after you restore a backup or install a certain app? Could you please try making another repair using PC Companion or Update Service and see if the problem occurs without any backup or installed apps?

I have the same problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its like I can use my phone for whatever but the phone itself!!!!
Moreover, whilst on the phone, it does what it likes!!! ie hangs up, calls another person!!!

its more thn annoying !!!

I didn't restore any backup, after "update service" as only my contacts (linked to gmail) are necessary for me. But of course, Google Play downloaded and installed my apps. I'm going to try again without re-installing any app, and let you know.

The restore is definitely not a factor! I've tried the repair thrice already.Now the least you guys can do is acknowledge the bug and the fact that you've got a patch to roll.

Hello,

Ok, I found a possible cause of this problem : After rebooting the phone, there is no problem with phone calls. As soon as an application is using the Android class 'AudioRecord' for recording (used by every VoIP application, audio recording apps, ...), the phone application starts to freeze and is no more usable.

In fact, my own application is based on this principle, that's why I catched the point. Unfortunately, this is not systematic, or the problem does not appear immediately after. My app is not distributed so can't cause troubles to others. Gageracer, Ajelishka, could you confirm this behaviour (working OK after rebooting, and then, using a particular app causes the problem) ??

Hello from Athens.

I have the exact same problem with the phone calls, mostly targeted in the incoming. Although I accept the call, the line doesn't open and I miss the call. The 2nd time someone calls the same. Callers have said that they can hear for a few seconds my ringtone and then the line opens.

another thing is the on-off button. If you push the on/off button during a call, it automatically finishes the call. so in case you are in a long call and you get a message, while your screen has turned off, you can not see it or do anything else, in case your screen is turned off. you have to terminate the call.

last, but not least, the google maps app is not working correctly any more and can not find my location. although the gps is open and has access to all apps, google maps have a problem. I don't know if its related to the jealy bean, but I didn't experience this problem before.

I Haven't tried the reboot yet, since I read it's not helping but I will try it now.

In any case the bug should be fixed asap. this upgrade did more harm than good

I have the same problem, and it's extremly annoying .

Both on outgoing and incoming phone calls. So far on every phone call

and I had many dropped calls too.

We need an update to fix ASAP

I've uninstalled Skype and Viber... works ok so far!!!

BUT!!!! Its not a solution for me!!! I use both for my work!!!

and if I wont be able to do so - Ill have to change my phone.... (((((((((((((((((

Is there any other way to fix it???

Please just one more question : Was Skype also affected by the problem (application freeze) or only the native phone application ??

So, Sony guys, I think you have elements enough to investigate and write a patch to fix this bug !!

I don't think its Skype, cz I don't keep it running on background as Viber!

Viber is constantly on!!!! and starting from Tuesday - Ill have to install it back again (((

the problem with the dialer still exists... I dial a number and I don't see any change on the display, whilst the other party could already answer the call... annoying, dont you think???

I really hope they could fix it!!! cz i really love this phone!!!

Well, its not Skype or Viber either. I use neither of them but still facing this issue. And once again for the record, SONY STILL HAS NOT ACKNOWLEDGED THE BUG!
