Software update using PC Companion

Hi,

I have received .75 update in my Xperia P phone which needs to be done only by PC Companion. When I am trying to do so, it is downloading the software correctly but in the next step when it asks to switch off the mobile, connect USB cable to computer and then connect the cable to phone holding the volume down button, the phone just starts charging (with battery symbol appearing on the screen) and the software update doesn't happen. I am doing the update in a laptop running on windows 7. Can anyone please help me out in updating my software?

Switch off phone. Wait for about 5 secs. Press and hold volume down button and then connect phone to computer. Don't release vol down button until PC companion says to do so.

You may repeat that step again. Unplug the cable from the computer and your phone, then plug first the cable to the computer and while plugging the cable to your phone, hold the - volume button. Let 5-10 sec pass before you do it if the computer fails to recognize your device.

just make sure that your holding the colume button down..it took me 3 times before my pc recognize my phone

I have tried out many times. It did not work. Nothing is happening apart from charging when I am connecting the phone. Is there any other way to update apart from this 'Hardware' process!!! I have also received Jelly Bean update and I am eager to get the update done.

Does ur PC detect your phone in normal mode? I mean when using PC companion? I also need to try 2 or 3 times before my PC could detect phone.

the jelly bean update is now rolling out..maybe try to update it with jellybean and try to make that the volume keys are working,is it working well on your phone?please do try checing it and check also the driver of the phone is installed

Yes..my phone is getting detected in the normal mode when using PC companion, also my volume buttons are working well and my phone drivers are installed. The update with jellybeam has come when I connected phone to PC. But it is not showing me in my update centre for me to update OTA.

No you do not need to enable it! try doing it again and hold down the volume down key a bit firmly! it does take several attempts for me as well!

Enable usb debugging mode,reinstall pcc and do all the steps again.
