Battery draining faster than charging (wall charger)

Can someone tell me if I have a problem or if this is normal? I recently got a Z1s and my charging seems to be off. My issue is that when I have the phone charging (wall charger) and I am using my phone, the phone drains faster than it charges. Is this normal? I have never ran into this problem before with any phone while using a wall charger. Any insight or information is greatly appreciated.

That's quite odd, are you using wifi and playing heavy games? since its new my suggestion is to reinstall the latest update with SUS

Nothing heavy. Just having the screen on in any way seems to drain the battery faster than it charges. I already had the phone replaced and the previous one did not have this problem. Is it possible for the SUS to fix this? I was hoping that I wouldn't have to replace the phone again.

Hi JustAnotherTo,

If you are charging via a USB port on a PC and are trying to play games or watch an HD movie, you will most likely notice the handset discharging as USB ports do not supply enough power to supplement the usage. This also relates to a socket charge, if the game or application uses a lot of resources then it can discharge faster than it can be charged.

If this is related to just leaving the handset on charge and not using it, then I suggest using the Task Navigation Key to clear all recent applications from the memory.

Simply Tap the Rectangle shaped key on the bottom right hand side, once here slide to the left or right on the applications to clear them from the handset.

Right now, my phone is plugged into the wall and only xperia care (to post this) and candy crush are running and my batter is draining faster than it can charge. I got a notification saying that the battery is not charging due to the power source not being sufficient. Is this normal? I mean, the drain is not that fast but I feel like it shouldn't be draining so fast while plugged in to the wall. Off the computer, I could understand but as I've stated I'm plugged into the wall. I have checked a different charger to just to make sure it wasn't the charger.

I think you should visit a sony service,there might be a problem with your micro usb hole on the phone.

Problem might be with power outlet or with charger or usb cable. If you have any data which you don't want to lose Try another power outlet before you reinstall the software. If there is not a problem with power outlet try to charge your phone with another charger and try to charge another phone with your charger.

i recently purchased the z1s and also have the tablet z and noticed the same problem, it charges overnight but if the screen is on and anything is running it will still lose power. i tried the supplied charger as well as adapters from other devices and different cables but nothing worked. on the tablet i had to turn off all running apps as well as bluetooth and gps just to keep the charge even but it still would not go up. finally i reduced the display brightness to 50% or less and i run apps that do not require much processing power and the device will finally have a net charge. this should be something that should be looked into

When screen brightness is %100 it eats up too much energy. It may be the problem, I always use my phone at minimum brightness level. Additionally after 4.3 update my screen uses less energy. I got one hour more screen usage with 4.3 update. If you are sure the problem isn't with the charger or usb cable reinstalling latest software sounds like the only possibly solution.

So it means that it is not like lap tops or some other devises.it does not charge the battery and supply the phone power separately.İ mean that if we remove the battery during charging phone will shotdown.in that case there can be some problem with the charger.

Charger can't take infinitive energy in a time. There is a limit which it can take to charge your phone. When you use your phone heavily charger can't feed your phone and it starts using battery too

Okay, so I chatted with a Sony rep who, just like some of the forum replies, recommended turning off apps that are not being used. Then, she advised I try turning my phone off by holding the power and volume up buttons and then turning it back on. Although I was skeptical about this doing anything, I decided to give it a go. For some reason, that did the trick! I now had the same apps running that would normally drain the battery while charging PLUS around 10 apps running in the background. Keep in mind that these apps that would normally drain the battery could do so by themselves and now they ran with others in the background WITHOUT draining the battery while charging. All happy, I decided to do a factory reset to start clean. Unfortunately since then, the problem has returned and repeated attempts to fix the problem with the power and volume up buttons has had no effect whatsoever. I have also factory reset my phone using the SUS method and repaired the phone through PC Companion. This is my second Z1s as the first one was replaced (for different reasons). The first Z1s did NOT have this problem and, sadly, my buyer's remorse period is over. Is my phone defective? Also, is it possible to get it repaired/replaced if I bring it into my nearest Sony store? Any additional help or information is greatly appreciated and I apologize for the poor formatting.

If they believe there is a problem with your phone they might change battery or other stuff which might cause the problem. But don't tell them just your phone doesn't charge, try to explain your problem as much as you can, good luck!

I just want to confirm something because it doesn't seem to work. I accidentally click the don't show this message again and I want it back.

So I was told to go to setting / Apps / Smart comm / Clear Cache. Is this correct. I doesn't seem to work.

I was having this problem and followed the advice of using the PC companion to repair the phone. Once the updates downloaded, I connected my phone. It stuttered a bit trying to detect my phone and then my phone turned off. Now, when I power it back on, it stalls at the Three.ie screen and won't turn on. PC companion cannot connect my phone either. Please help! This is worse than not being able to charge up
