Hi

Relatively new to android and the Z1 compact, but after a week of owning it I am having a good few problems in addition to the camera in low light!

Mainly the power button to switch the screen on when it has been idle (phone not powered off), will sometimes take a huge delay of up to 10 seconds to come on. Now I know the it’s only the screen delaying to come on because, the first button press the screen is still blank, and if the second press is held down then I get the noise of the power off, airplane mode and sound options pop up but still with a black screen until the screen decides it’s time to turn on.

Secondly I saw a post about screen delay when the phone was in a call and you wanted to end it, pull it away from your ear and then you have to wait a few seconds for the screen to pop back. Now I was ok with this delay at first, but now it has got worse, average 5 seconds i think.

I was so excited to get this phone and I still have high hopes for it, but with the very disappointing camera, and the screen delay issues I am really considering giving it back.

Any help or advice will be much appreciated.

Jimbob!

Hi there,

Based on the problems that you described here, including the problem in this thread, I think you need to re-install/upgrade your current software.

Download and install on your computer Sony Update Service and follow the simple steps.

NOTE: In the "Network Mode" you should have LTE(preferred)/WCDMA/GSM option.

Cheers.

The power-on delay after lock (which sometimes means you miss calls) sounds like another ANCIENT problem that was a problem on my Xperia Pro with ICS update from 3 years ago!! There was me thinking that this sort of thing would have been sorted out since 2011 in a brand new phone in 2014 with quad core processor and 2GB RAM!! How stupid was I.

Seriously Sony, just SORT IT OUT!!! If this problem is caused by your customizations (I don't know, maybe another lazy Google issue) then just get rid of your customizations as they aren't important enough to cause problems like this.

Any updates on this? I bought my Compact Z1 about two weeks ago. Everything seemed fine, I was very happy with the phone, and the switch to Android. And now.... 😞

I push the "on" button and sometimes - not always, but sometimes - there is a delay of around 5-10 seconds. It's incredibly frustrating, and completely unpredictable. It's strange because sometimes it works fine.

Any suggestions???? If this can't be resolved soon, I will of course never purchase another Sony phone. Fool me once.... etc., etc.

Thanks!

If I turn off all the power saving functions it seems to sort it. I'm having another problem where the screen doesn't turn on when the device is removed from my ear at the end of a call.
