It has been several weeks since the last change and fortunately the phone is completely operational. Some day I will enable again 'Automatic restore' to see if my google account is 'clean' after deleted many old apps. I think google should allow to reset the account to start over, this in order to prevent large 'restores' everytime I reset the phone.

Dear Sony Support,

This I think is one of the many problems found after update software version to 14.2.A.1.136. My Z1 vibrates randomly and not all the time brings notifications, I don't know why that happens but clearly it is one more symptom of updating my phone. I wonder if I can unroll this change and return to an older but stable version.

Regards,

Daniel.

Hi alexdon,

Yes it is 4.3, My carrier has not released 4.4.2 yet but I'm thinking about loading the 'untouched' version in order to get updates sooner.

I tried software repair before and I don't believe that repeting that exercise will solve the problem.

Cheers,

Dannyel.

Hey Alexdon, I tried a factory reset anyway and later a safe mode (thanks) when I got problems setting alarm (application stop). Problems continued even in safe mode (intermitent vibrations/sounds but 0 notifications), so I tried to download another alarm from google play and realized that I could not download any application, after some investigation I figured out that automatic app updates were running but none application was actually being updated (in progress but none download or install) which prevented me to install an alternative alarm or any other app.

I notice that the phone was even less responsibe than before (it shoud be for the big amount of updates but 0 notifications of such actions).

What I think now is that google play app is not working properly and that generated vibrations/sounds and problems in the alarm for some reason (possible hidden app updates). I had disabled automatic updates and worked in offline mode to avoid any internet connection. In this moment I have not detected any unknown vibration/sound and I could set alarms using the default app. I returned to normal operation and so far so good. I will post again if the problems arises.

I'm still experiencing this same problems on my Z1. Even working in safe and offline mode, I closed as many services as I could but no progress at all. This seems now to be an OS issue. I cannot use my alarm anymore (I lost a flight and wake up from that using a TV).

PC Companion is not connecting anymore to the cell phone.

I dont know what caused this but I can also see that my phone is not ringing or vibrating during an incoming phone call. In this moment I have a useless device.

Any insights are much appreciated!!!

Done! (I did that before but I gave it another try) and the problem remains the same with the unconvenience that I lost the installed programs and google play does not want to install anything. As you can see the problem concerns many functions on the phone.

I could see that if I do not close the clock app when android ask for and instead wait for about 2-4 minutes, the setup screen for the alarm appeared and I could work on it, now I tried again to set another alarm and I received the following message:

"Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped" Which makes me think that there is actually a relation between clock/alarm and google play (I suppose gapps is for google play). This time however I could not enter to set a new alarm.

I have lost another call with the cell phone by my side (is not ringing) I run diagnostics to test the loudspeaker and the application halts, the same behaviour happens with ear speaker. I do not what to do!!!

For a moment (just for a moment) the phone started to work! A download problem notification appeared to install Smart Connect and later a downloading of apps started. I entered google play and stopped everything (get into My Apps and clock on Stop button), sound came to normal and I could set alarms. However now the phone is back to weird state, I cannot set alarms, ringtone is gone and 'My apps' section on google play is with the processing circle on the middle. From this experience I can now see that all those symptoms are caused by a single source of failure, the challenge here is detecting where this weirdness is being generated.

I cleared data and cache (thanks you again!) but that was not enough, I disabled google play and turn off/on the phone and I could restablish lost phone functionality. Then I come back to google play clearing data once more just in case and enable it. Google Play started to download (again) apps and I stopped one by one. In this moment I have google play enabled with sounds/alarms and no random vibrations yet. I will wait for a while and comment the outcome of this movement.

It failed again, a couple of days after I experienced the same issues and I could not fix it this time with the past workaround.

I recently did another reset and this time I logon using a new google account (thinking that this was maybe a problem with my account) It happens that the phone was working perfectly, so I removed in my original account as many apps (from google play/my apps/all apps) as I could (around 60-70) and connected my account back disabling 'Automatic restore' from settings/backup&reset. So far so good, I did this two days ago and I will post later the results after a week working under this new setup.
