My xperia x10 keeps dropping the signal very frequently. It happens mostly within 3-4 seconds of picking a call. On the notification bar, the signal goes from full to zero, it shows the no sim card symbol for a moment, and then the signal reappears. Another problem is when I call someone, the screen goes blue. I can't cut the call or see whats happening, though the call does go through. I factory reset the phone, and then restored it back again. The problem went away for a day, but has started again now. Anyone has any idea whats wrong?

As far as I know, its not a network related issue. Whenever the problem starts, the call log also stops working. As in, it stops registering any new calls after the problem starts. I reset the phone again an hour back, and its normal now. Could it be some app that was causing a problem?

That is another possibility, for that you have do some eliminations on the apps you have installed. Another way is, install and try apps one by one after a factory reset - long process! Good luck.

I have the same problem with my phone, even with a clean install. If I transfer my SIM to another phone (not an X10) I get 4 bars. Put the SIM back in the X10 and I get 4 bars one minute and no service the next so that points to an issue with the phone and not the network or SIM. Seems to be worse when wifi is active.
