Incorrect email notification

I have just updated my SP to 12.1.A.1.201 and am having truoble with the email app on the phone.

I have set up three O2 accounts on the phone and the display shows me as having new email. However, When I look on the combined and or individual accounts and see either no new emails or no emails at all. I have tried reinstalling the software but it works correctly for a day then it happens again.

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

Which type of email accounts do you have in your phone? POP3, IMAP or ActiveSync?

You could try to clear data for email app and add the accounts again. Go to settings > apps > all > email > clear data. Restart the phone and see if it works better.

as far as i know its POP3. I have cleared the accounts and then reinstalled each one several times. i have also re loded the backup which made no difference. I have factory reset and repeated the software update 5 times with the same result. The phone is now on its way to Sony to sort out. Hopefully they will reverse the software update to a version that i can use.

Try using a stock email client (email.apk). Sony's is full of bugs (had similar problem with activesynced email.

You don't need to root your device to do it, just permit installation of applcations from diferent sources.

If the sony email app is not working correctly then Sony should fix it (along with all the othere things that dont seem to be working well). I was happy with the existing email app (apart from the ocasional email notification with a date of 1970). I dont believe in putting load of programs/app on a PC/phone that do half a job. If they can't fix it then I can see me returning the phone for another make.

Well I have had a notification from SBE to say my phone has been repaired. They do not say what they have done to fix the problem but will see once the phone is back.

Well I got my phone back and all they said was they reinstalled the software. I reinstalled my apps and settings and all was well until today. one of my email accounts said i had three emails yet only one was displayed on the screen. Fiddling around with the setting I went to the sort function (only available if you have emails on the page) and changed it from 'Thread' to Most recent. Now i can see the three emails. It looks like the default is Thread.
