Stutter and lag while scrolling.

Hello,

I recently bought an xperia z1. I got it the day update .757 was released. Because of that i never really enjoyed the smoothness people said they were enjoying with the 4.3 version of android.

With this 4.4.2 version, i'm experiencing alot of lag while scrolling. Apps like phonebook, e-mail, gmail and facebook all have a tough time when scrolling through pages. Stuttering and lagging all around. Chrome scrolls quite fine, but hangs occasionaly.

This scrolling wasn't that bad on my old xperia s, hence this topic.

Now my question: Is this a well known fact, and are you guys working on an update which makes sure the lag goes away? Or is there any way to fix this problem right now?

re-install the latest update with SUS or PCC, it will smooth things out

Do i have to repair an installation then? Or what should i do within bridge for mac?

just re-install the latest update, PCC/SUS/Bridge should tell you that you have the latest update but you should be able to re-install it

That's why i asked. I don't see an option that says re-install update. Just the repair xperia device option. So you're telling that i should use that option? I want to be really sure, because i need to do quite alot to get this done, and get it configured and set-up again..

And by the way, i tried using safe mode to see if the scroll stutter/lag was still there, and it was. How can it be that i need to reinstall the firmware then?

I did what you said, and the stuttering is still there.

It happens when the scrolling slows down to stop.

it could be a slow connection, also you might want to clear the call logs

The call logs are already cleared since the repair. I just synced my contacts, which are about 30 without much information or pictures. The lag also happens when i scroll through downloaded e-mails. So i don't need an active connection for that i guess.

I just don't understand why this isn't smooth, because there's such good hardware in this phone. Benchmarks and stuff also go really well. So i don't think there's much wrong with the phone itself.

I still think that if you could use a PC and SUS you will get a better result, as it will reinstall the latest update and factory reset your phone, just make sure to backup everything

I tried updating with SUS, and the problem still persists. It's like almost everything gives a little stutter/lag when scrolling, even in menu's etc. The rest works fine and very fast. Like i said before, benchmarks also give great scores. So is it safe to say now that the 757 firmware has problems with this smoothness? Or are there more ways to get rid of this problem?

Don't get me wrong, i'm not angry or something. I just don't understand what's going on with this fine device.

50 mbit. The download went quite fast, just like the reset itself. That's why i didn't hesitate to try it again on my windows pc like you said. I also can't think of any reason why i would be lying about this.

Like i said before, don't get me wrong. I'm not angry or something. I just don't understand why this scrolling is such an issue while the rest of the phone works great!

Hi Saintgein, i'm experiencing this issue too...

And I made the reapir by SUS, and things still the same...

Before the 4.4.2, the phone runs smooth, without heating (only playing GT2, Asphalt, etc) and with great battery life, was lasting almost 2 days, using very much, tasks like waze, whats app, games and google features...

After 4.4.2, when i leave mobile data on, my battery doesn't last 12h...

This thing is annoying me... Lots of lags, lags on camera...

@uliwooly: Have you tried using extra large font? I use that because it makes it very easy to read for me, maybe that's the reason of the lag. I notice that if i use normal size font, the scrolling issue is less visible. Although it's still not perfectly smooth then.

And yeah, it's not there all the time. It's like sometimes the cpu is working and influencing the scrolling a little. And it's not much like hanging for seconds, it just doesn't feel smooth.

@antenorhs: So i'm not the only one having this issue. I can't compare my experiences with the older situation, but maybe i should try the 4.3 update, just to find out. Thanks for the reply!
