Battery Charging very slow on xperia Z3 lollipop

I have recently upgraded to Lollipop and earlier the 100% battery charging used to take roughly 2 hours on kitkat but now after the upgrade it is taking roughly 4 hours. I am using the same 2.1 amp original sony charger and it is really annoying when it takes so much time.

Pls fix this bug very very urgently.

4 hours from 0% to 100% with the device on is about normal.

Not sure what original sony charger you have with 2.1 amps. As far as I know,the sony chargers have 1.5. Could you provide the details about it?

Same problem. The thing is have z3 tablet compact. Ive discharged both my phone and tablet. My tablet was charged at 100% when my phone was 82%. With kitkat my phone was charging faster. I don't understand how a software update could effect tge changing time

I've not bothered to time it as i usually charge overnight but i suspect stamina mode slows down charging.

Hi Guys,

I'm not sure if you guys have use a high amp charger before anything that more then 2.0 for overtime. Ofcause that will help to boost the charging speed, but overtime or prolong usage may affect the battery performance.

The next time when you switch back to a lower amp charger, it will charges much slower compare to when your using the 1.5amp charger regularly such as a original sony charger which mine rated as 1.5amp model is EP880.

Hope this input may help to answer a little.

Both my devices were off while charging because they fully discharged so no the stamina mode isnt the problem.

Thanks for your inputs. Actually what you said is right. Sony gave only 1.5 Amps charger but then I purchased another charger of Sony which is 2.1 amps. Its available on ebay in India. When I purchased 2.1 as a spare I thought orgiinal was also 2.1 amps. Anyways thanks for the clarirfication.

Now I have read in this blog that --> /t5/Xperia-Z3-Compact/How-long-to-fully-charge-battery/td-p/861671

Charging time for Z3 Compact is around 2.4 hours. for 2600 mah bettery and where as Z3 (regular) has 3100 mah. So if we take the ratio it should still take roughly around 3 hours. Not sure why mine is taking 4 hours using 1.5 amp charger (original).

Yes even if charged to the mains plug directly it is taking a good 4 hours to charge, think it is 1 hour more than the normal expectations.

Try to change your USB charging cable and see if that helps on your charging speed.

Hello, same problem on my Z3 Dual after 5.0.2 update. I did repair procedure shortly after update.

Noticed it when it was in dock. Tried original charger with same result.

The whole point is that earlier to upgrade which was last week everything was working fine. But just after the upgrade it is taking time. So changing the cable didn't help either.

Bit of advice take no notice of the onscreen information saying so many minutes or hrs to charge.That has never been correct even on my Nexus devices.Using original Sony charger or using DK48 is slightly faster on lollipop on the Z3 and Z3 compact here,but not by a great margin

I am using Sony original charger only right now. I tried to use Sony 2.1 amps charger but performance did not improve.

Also apart from that, the battery charging time indication shows always wrong info about time left to charge. God knows the reason by lollipop has slowed down my charging time by 1.5 hours atleast.

I tried the "repair" option using PC companion. It made absolutely no difference and the issue persists. The key thing to note is that thecharging works fine when in Ultra Stamina mode and this makes it pretty obvious that the ultra stamina mode disables some feature on the Z3 that is affecting the charging and that said its pretty evident that this is infact a software issue and not a hardware issue.
