I did wait until prompted. I even tried it again while holding the volume down button like you suggested. It's literally as if the battery is completely fried.

When I went to sleep last night, my phone was working fine. It was on my bed and charging. When I woke up this morning, it was still plugged in but completely dead.

It won't turn on, it doesn't have the red light when charging, nothing. I tried a different charger, tried the force restart, even tried the little yellow button and still nothing.

The only thing I can imagine is that it severely overheated and blew the engine. Nothing else makes sense. Is there anything else I can do beyond replacing it?

You may need to perform a software repair using PC Companion. The process will erase all internal memory. You might need to charge your device for about 1-2 hours before so the device has at least 80% battery.

Make sure the device is not connected to computer or laptop and turned off (sometimes you have to press power button and volume up until the device vibrates 3 times or on some devices you have to press the small button near the SIM tray or on the back of the device).

Open PC companion->support zone->phone/tablet software update->repair my phone/tablet blue highlighted.Follow the steps given,do not connect your phone until prompted to press volume down while plugging USB cable. If PC companion does not start the repair process, you might need to run it in compatibility mode with Windows 7 (in some cases XP).

I'm sorry, I should have added that I tried the PC companion already as well. When I connect the phone to the USB, it still does nothing.

But you do not need to connect at first, start the repair process and connect only when you are prompted.

You could also try Holding the Power button and Volume + key for around 30 seconds, once done put the device on charge for around an hour and see if you can power the device on.

Let us know how you get on.
