WhatsApp / Line notifications not showing?

Hi everyone,

I am a first time user of Sony, and Xperia Z5 is my first phone.

I got it on 26th October and I have used iPhones and Samsung phones previously.

Can I check if anyone has the same problems as mentioned?

I tried tweaking both phone settings and app settings and the pin/pattern unlock was the initial problem that I found.

The "swipe" to unlock is now my primary screen unlock method with no security procedure in place.

Thing is that i still sometimes don't get the notifications under "screen lock" mode for these 3rd party apps even i chose to show all notification content under phone settings.

I only get them when I have swiped to unlock my phone, and a whole chunk of notifications start popping up.

Phone Version: 5.1.1

When Device is locked >> Show all notification content

WhatsApp Popup notification >> Only when screen "off"

Line settings >> Display Pop-ups when screen ON "OFF"

Display Pop-ups when screen OFF "Simple"

Apologies if this topic has surfaced previously but I would like to know if there is a solution for receiving my notifications on a real-time basis?

Have you enabled Stamina mode? if you have you won't get this notifications are they are data dependent.

As @Phy mentioned, this is probably because of stamina mode, to conserve your battery data connection is switched off while screen is off. But on a side note, if you disable stamina you can get notifications delivered even if you set some security for your mobile (which I suggest you should do). I use pattern security and I get all my notifications on lock screen normally.

Hi @Jokerjest,

It is possible to choose specific apps to remain active even if you have Stamina mode enabled, so that you'll still receive notifications from them. You can do so if you go to Settings > Power management > Stamina mode > Apps active in standby.
