Changing message notification tone

i cant find how 2 change my message 2 and was wondering if any1 could help..

i only hav the phone 2 weeks and love it but when i look up the tutorial 2 change the tone it isnt the same set up as my phone could this hav anything 2 do wit upgrading my phone 2 the android 2.1??

Try opening your Messaging app and then pressing Menu>Settings and one of the options is notification tone.

Sorry, I have the same problem, but tappng the message app, I would not get to the meun>settings tap. Please advise.

If you are still on Android 1.6 then try Menu>Sony Ericsson>Messaging and I think from memory its in there!

Hi, I'm on android 2.1. For the setting>sony ericsson, I have only 3 tap; ie Camera setting, setting download amd Timescape setting. No setting for message notification tone.

how to set off vibrate when recieving a sms? i cant find it, im on android 1.6, appreciate your feedbacks..

On 2.1 you open your messaging app, the icon that looks like an envelope. Then press Menu (bottom left silver key) and Settings is on the right hand side at the bottom of the screen. Tap this and it brings up a sub menu with Deliver Report / Notifications / Notification tone / Notification vibration / SIM messages / Push Settings.

On 1.6 it should be in Settings>Sony Ericsson>Messaging.

One more question, can I set different notification tone for different contacts?

I think you can do this with the app Handcent SMS. If you open the thread from the person you want to change, then tap the settings icon in the top right of the screen (head and a cog) you can set individual notifications. I have just tested on one and it seems to have worked OK!
