Sony Xperia M2 Aqua - Screen does not lock when on a phone call

I have been using my Xperia M2 Aqua for more than a year now without it missing a beat. After the last software update however I have started experiencing problems such as the touch screen being very unresponsive, the phone being overall very slow and, the most frustrating, that it does not lock the screen when I am taking a call. Before the latest software update, the phone used to lock the screen as I was moving it to my ear. This is resulting in functions being performed while I am taking a call becaues the screen registers my jaw movement as actions on the phone. It only started doing this after the latest software update. I have tried restoring the factory settings to going back to the previous software version but that did not work. Please can anyone assist with this??

Sorry to hear that.

Do you mean that your display is not going black during phone calls? There is a sensor on your phone that is supposed to turn the display off during calls to make sure that you do not press the display and end the call accidentally.

You can test if this is related to the sensor or not by going to Settings > Diagnostics > Test > Ear proximity. Follow the instructions displayed. Did your phone pass the test?

I'm experiencing the same problem. I did perform the proximity sensor test - it switches to "ON" when I cover the sensor with my finger.

Welcome to the forum! Do you mean that your display is still going not black during calls even though it passed the test? Does the same thing happen while your device is in safe mode?

I'm affraid it's not a consistent problem - I cannot replicate it now, neither in safe mode nor in normal mode.

I have experienced the problem several times, but I'm not sure under which circumstances it occurs.

Need help.

My Xperia m2 have a problem that couldn't install "the latest android software on my Xperia device '' I could download it but if I click install then the screen showed android robot while loading something then it just power on my phone and said 'couldnt install the latest version" I tried it many times even using Xperia companion in my laptop but it goes the same. I just stress about it. And someone would help me please. 😊 ty

Hi @Amear,

It sounds like the update was not installed correctly. In this case I'd advise you to perform a software repair using Xperia Companion. To do this your phone has to be turned off, you can force the phone to shut down by pressing and holding the power button and volume up button at the same time untill the phone vibrates.

I do using the Xperia companion but it goes the same.
It said 'the latest device couldn't download ' in Xperia companion. I thought it went like that because, my device was been reboot. But how can I to unreboot my device.

I'm not sure I fully understand you. What was the exact error message you received in Xperia Companion?

Do you mean that you have unlocked the bootloader in your device?

Xperia companion told that 'the latest device couldn't be install ' then my phone restart. Xperia companion still show 'the latest device ' and ask me to download it and it goes still the same. Where could I lock the bootloader?
I've never heared that before this.

If you have unlocked the bootloader in your phone a software repair or software update will not be possible and I can unfortunately only refer you to have your device sent to an authorized service centre to have this sorted out. Contact your Local support for information on local warranty and service procedures.
