Hi

Got my Xperia x yesterday and going through setting it up, so I just want to clarify that after I have registered my fingerprint to unlock the device I need to push the lock button in not just place my finger on it? To unlock it, because previous phones I just put my finger on it and it unlocked. Sorry if it's been covered but could not find it and this is my first song phone. TIA

Hi @XperiaXDom, welcome to the community.

To use the fingerprint sensor you need to wake your screen in some way. This is usually by pressing the power/lock key. If you tap it with your registered finger and leave it there, the screen will unlock.

It becomes very natural quickly.

You are right that there are a few devices that wakes the screen and unlock with the fingerprint sensor, especially those that have the sensor on the back.

I wished that Xperia X behaves the same too! Maybe they did it in order to save battery.

Another way to do this is to enable double tap to wake screen. Then you can double tap, then put your finger there without needing to press it down. It will unlock.
