Sony Ericsson 5 no SMS alert

Deserately looking for some help here just received my new Sony 5 and I cannot get the SMS alert to beep or light to flash when I receive a txt message .......please help

Hello @Blades56

Congrats on your new phone. I assume that you will be using the stock Messages app. Find the app icon and long-tap on it -> App info -> Notifications -> Make sure that the "Incoming messages" option is enabled and there is a ringing bell icon beside it. If not, tap on it to change to "Alerting".

Thanks for the reply.....I've checked it and it's all as it should be.....still no alert....if I leave my messages open it will alert but as soon as I leave the messages I get nothing

Is Do not Disturb on, you can see if if you swipe down, on the notification panel

It's not on...... I get alerts for emails/Facebook etc just not messages..... Very annoying

Found the problem to be one of my apps on my phone......removed the app and phone is working 100%
