Connect email app with Hotmail account.

Since last December I cannot connect my email app to my Hotmail account.
I am now using the Outlook app but i do not like it.
Please help me i have try everything i could think off.

Hi @Juliejo,

Is your Hotmail account added in the email application in your phone? If it is, do you see any error messages when trying to update your inbox, for example that the server can't be contacted?

If it's not added in the phone, start the email application and follow the start up guide until you have entered your email address and password, at this point you will see an option called "Manual setup", here you will need to choose what the account type is (IMAP/POP3/Exchange Activesync).

The most common account types are IMAP and POP3, this will however depend on your email provider and what type of account you have registered with them, the next step is to enter incoming and outgoing settings and these differ between email account providers, so Hotmail have different settings compared to, for example Google.

If you are unsure about which information to add and what account type to choose I would recommend getting in contact with Hotmail and they will be able to provide you with this information!

Scroll down to section 3 for Hotmail.

I believe that Microsoft may have made some changes towards the end of last year so this may have upset your configuration.

This doesn't help me. It was working before and since december its not working anymore. I'm trying to use the app that comes with the phone. Now I have to use the outlook app that I hate because the phone app wont charge my emails.

Sorry to hear that the information in the link didn't solve it.

I'm afraid that in this case I will have to refer you to contact Microsoft directly, they handle the support for Hotmail accounts and they will be able to provide you with the correct settings that you will have to enter in your phone to make it work again.
