i recieved my 'brand new' z3 d6653 model i bought privately off an ebay seller...

i put in the imei number into imei.info and it says it is actually a xperia z c6603...but when i plug into pc campanion it says it is a z3 d6653....??...

i was also watching a video of the z3 on youtube and noticed the glass over the camera bulged out a little bit and the led has a milky lense cover thing... mine doesnt have any of that, no bulge from camera lens and the glass is clear and can see straight to the led (which you can see in the photos bellow), and the led is also way off centre...

also the xperia, nfc, and logo next to the camera are black which i havnt seen in any pictures online, they are all silver....?

also the phone didnt come with plastic screen protectors on front or back as iv seen people have in unboxing videos...

and when im making calls people just only JUST hear me.

also the phone came with 0% battery and when its charged it doesnt seem to last very long at all (no where near a full day or medium use)...

and the camera only lasts a maxium of a few minutes just taking pictures before it overheats and shutsdown...

it only came with a little start up guide no other paperwork in the package and no extra ear buds. ....

it is running android 5.0.2 and says there is no updates even thought i have read a lot of people are running marshmellow 6........

i am confused and not happy about.

Looks just like my Z3,and mine is original.

Original had no bumps on camera.

Is yours a dual sim?

6603 is single sim like mine

thanks for reply. no its not a dual sim, is a d6653 model. where did you buy yours? i have not seen any photos on the internet with the same rear glass as mine and no reflector on camera flash. only place i have seen same rear glass with black logos is a z3+ after market glass replacement. the weirdest thing is the IMEI number being for the older Z model. and because of that im guessing thats why i cant upgrade to marshmellow. here is a picture of after market glass replacement for z3+

Mine is for the emea market.

Mine is copper colour and the writing on back is all in silver by camera and the Sony logo

You didn't say if it was brand new or second hand.

If it is second hand, then you dont know the exact history.

If the seller said d6603,then it should be a d6603.

Open settings>about phones...that should confirm what the seller had and advertised,

If not you can open a dispute in ebay.

sorry, it is brand new.

ok so it the settings it says it is a Z3 d6653, but the imei is for a Z c6603.

i have countless other problems with phone like microphone when making calls is super super muffled and battery is no where near as good as expected. charged phone to 100% and then didnt touch it for 4-5 hours and it went down to 94%... gps not picking up location... and many more.

defiantly going to be asking for a return... only reason why i havnt yet and trying to figure it all out and possibly fix it is the time i will be phoneless. took a long time for it to come from china (i think) to here in spain... now i have to toss up risking a replacement or just a refund (if either are even possible...)

the seller on ebay is x-channel if anyone has had any experience.

4 to 5hrs to 94% is normal.

There's always some standard sony o/s apps running in background like temp regulation,standby features,phone and messaging etc,so it will notify you if you get a calls or sms etc,

Low ringtone and/or volume is standard issue with Z3 that owners put up with.

Even more so with ver.5.x

It's up to you to read up on this forum on what problems the Z3 has had.

And see if you can live with them.

If the about phone settings says d6653 and seller sold as d6653, unless phone is dead,I'm not sure what you can do about it on ebay or how you going to prove technical inaccuracies etc.

Good luck with dealing with China seller with returns and refund etc.

ok thanks for your input mate. if this is a legit new phone (which i doubt) i am very very dissapointed. i was expecting a lot better.

And run all the tests while you still have it.

See what comes up as faulty etc, might help your case with ebay.

Take screenshots of faulty test results etc... as proof.

i tested it through diagnostics in the settings and it seems the gps is the only one not working, although the microphone test is very very muffled.. not sure if that is normal.

i think i may have found my problem though... i did a factory reset today and noticed on the start up a message about the phone being a prototype, not sure if that would explain the imei being for a Z model though.

I bought the exact same phone on eBay and am having alot of the same issues..camera is offcentred and doesn't take good photos. Also wouldn't read sim card..

I have the same issue IMEI seems to be from Xperia Z c6603 and drm Keys are also gone. GPS does not work 2g too, LTE Signal is very weak and 3g uses only one freqenty Band. Bootloader can not be unlocked
