Yes, indeed. I had the exact same issue you refer to. From the time my Z5 Premium was 2 weeks old it started to overheat, drain the battery and shut down. Software repair helped a little bit (maybe) but every time there was an update it would start mucking up again. When I finally took it back after 12 months of repeated software repairs, the store / phone service company tried to tell me it was bent.

I complained so they eventually gave me a "new" phone. Within a couple of weeks the new one is overheating, shutting down and very fast battery drain.

Sony are trying to tell me it is Software related and probably caused by an App. I have very few Apps on the device. When I ask how to find out what is causing the problem, there is no help. Trial and Error is what I've been told.

I've just done another Software Repair (the first one with the new device) so I'll see if it works this time. Trouble is though that if I Restore from my Backup it will just put nearly everything back on.

I brought a Z5 Premium from a Romanian stare and I was very excited. Over 2 months it was over heating and then it got a really weird shape like it was curved. I went back to the store and they gave me a new Z5 Premium . Only after 3 months the new z5 wasn’t ok because I can’t listen to music and again overheating. After all this I went back to the store and told them about the problems and they observed that this new phone has a curve like the other one and they told me that is my fault and if I want to repair it I had to pay 355 EUR for it.. I am really disappointed and I want to know if this is possible and if is someone else that his/hers phone was got that curve. Mine was looking like a big boat…under no circumstances I did not do anything with it I did not sit down on the phone or anything to damage it

Do you think that I should sent an email to sony global and tell them my problem and maybe assume that the phone can get that wierd shape?

My phone was photographed on a flat surface by the service / repair department of the phone company and it showed a small curvature right at the point where the SIM card tray slides in. The phone had been in a full protective Otter case with tempered glass screen protector since day 1. There is obviously a structural weakness at the SIM tray.

When the phone was given back to me I was able to straighten it with gentle pressure and a 0.010" feeler gauge could not fit under it on a piece of flat glass in any place. This is how I was able to convince the company that it was not the issue.

Plus I had established a history for over 12 months of complaining about the overheating, battery discharge and locking up.

I now have second identical phone, new, that has started with the exact same problem and again within only weeks of being out of the box. It's a bit much to think it is just my own very bad luck to have 2 phones with identical problem.

The Z5 Premium is a large phone. Obviously people are going to put it in their pocket. I doubt the curvature is something that simply occurs without mechanical stress. But the phone should be built to withstand normal expected use and carraige.

I have just yesterday had the overheating, battery drain and device freeze occur while in "Safe Mode". I had been running in Safe Mode for close to a week to try to determine if it was a 3rd party App causing the proble. Clearly now, it isn't. So the phone goes back to the store / supplier yet again.
