Water damage sony xperia z1 compact!

Hello, since this phone is waterproof i wanted to try it under water, and when i putted it under water, while all the slots were closed properly and there was also a phone cover protecting it, my phone turned off and from then it didnt switch on again also after i pressed the power button like 10 times

Force restart(power button+vol up until the phone vibrates).

i did it before and it did vibrate three times, but after few hours, when i got home and charged it, the red light (which shows its charging) came, but then it disappeared after a few seconds, i also tried to connect it by usb on my laptop, but it says that no devices are connected.

It could be water damaged.But try this first:let the phone dry some more(until tomorrow),put it in a bowl of rice.Tomorrow charge it for about 2 hours and try a repair with SUS:

it doesnt charge, the red light thing which shows is charging is not coming up everytime i charge it.

i just found out that a bit of water entered in the memory card slot, and how can a bowl of rice help in this case? i mean the water is probably inside the phone and the rice cant get inside and etc.. and i dont even know how to open this phone, like taking out the battery and stuff

Do not open it if you have warranty,open all the flaps and let it dry.

i took out my phone from the bowl of rice, and i putted it on charge and the red light which shows it's charging appeared again, but the phone won't turn on, what should i do? And i got this phone on a 2 years monthly contract on the 1st of february, if i send this to sony, will they repair it for free?

You have to send it back ... no choice. Did you buy accidental damage warranty?

Accidental Damage covers your device from events such as, but not limited to, drops and spills.

i dont think i did, i mean i read the information on how to use it under water and this phone should be waterproof, but it doesn't look like it is after what has happened. So shouldn't they repair it for free?

You'd better send it to SONY repair center to strive for free repair. It is not your fault.

If they refuse, you must decide to pay for repairing or diy repair.

If you choose to repair it by yourself, the first thing you should do is teardown the phone for drying the spare parts of the phone.

Once the phone get wet, it is hard to dry it completely without teardown.

BTW, the phone should not by turn on at once after water damage. It will hurt the motherboard that will be the worst.

I have exactly the same problem with my z1 Compact, I was taking photos under water (of course with closed seals) and after about 5 min the display is getting black. After storing it in a bowl of rice for 3 days the display was working again, but the backlight on the left side (side with the SD card slot) is darker than the right side. So Today I bring it to the service center, and hope that Sony don't mess around with the warrenty.

How was Sony proceeding with your warranty.?

Mines the same, flashes red then blue/green took the SD card out and found a drop of water on it

Im starting to see a trend here as the same thing has happened to me. I took the phone to the pool to snap a few pictures and my phone died a few minutes after. To set the record straight, I checked the flaps before going down as i usually do. Before this incident, I had nothing but high praise for this phone. I would tell my friends to get it themselves but my views have changed drastically especially after hearing the news from the service center. They are charging me almost the same amount i spent to acquire the phone. They are saying that the damage is due to "misuse." How can they reasonably judge that it was due to misuse is beyond me. I think I can speak for the rest of the people experiencing this problem that we have treated the phone with adequate responsibility. I honestly feel that we have been cheated.
