Sony Xperia Z5 Finger Print Scanner stopped working

The fingerprint scanner just stopped working. It was working fine, then it stop detecting any finger prints and I even tries to reset it, but it wouldn't let me, I kept getting an error message as soon as I tried. I really don't want to have to get this phone replaced already?

Hi @jurgenww,

I'm sorry to hear that.

Try going to Settings > Apps > All, find FIngerprint Manager and choose to clear data for this app. Restart your phone after this. This will clear are you added fingerprints so try to add a fingerprint again after doing this.

I think I have the same problem.
There's one fingerprint registered, but every action I try on the fingerprint settings page changes nothing. can't delete or add a fingerprint...

Happens with every software update I tried. Factory and 2 updates

@derEremit I'm sorry to hear that. Have you also tried a software repair using PC Companion or just a normal full reset through the phone's settings menu?

Me too I have the some problem regarding the fingerprint and the manual unlocking method is not working also when I enter password it keep in saying incorrect password enter and at this stage I cannot access the phone at all. Any help out there

I have try to do software repair through computer it did not work since I cannot access phone memory and also I have try my experia devices resset it did not work

Hi, I do have the same problem the fingerprint scanner just decided to stop working, I just bought the new Xperia Z5 few days back, I've tried PCC Software update and cleared the app data also but without any luck, noting also it didn't work on Safe mode as well, seems like hardware problem, please help?! Otherwise the phone will be another old Xperia without finger print scanner feature.

@XAlaa I'm sorry to hear that. I suggest that you get in touch with your Local support team so that your phone can get examined further at one of our authorised service centers.

@fingerprint Check this step-by-step guide and see if it can help you perform the software repair: software repair using PC Companion
Note that your phone should be powered off and disconnected from the PC when you start the software repair guide.

Hi; just over the course of today the fingerprint scanner became very sensitive. It would recognise part of my hand 5 times quickly in succession and then lock me out of the phone.

I restarted the phone hoping that would make it work, but then it just stopped sensing my fingers altogether! I tried to re-set my fingerprint pattern but whenever I try to do that the screen just flickers and nothing happens (there is no prompt to place my fingers on the sensor like before).

It's like the phone forgot that the sensor is there! I've had a look at the forums but couldn't find anything similar to this... Is this related to the latest update?

Hi , After updating my phone to 6.0 fingerprint sensor ha been working at all. The fingersprint sensor manger itself vanished, it is not there in security, diagnostic. I was recommanded a software repair, even that did not help me at all. It did not even ask to setup fingerprint sensor after software. It's like the fingersprint sensor does not exist anymore in the phone. I even tried service test *#*#7378423#*#*, Fingerprint test is not even available there to test.What is the world is going on here.

I have exactly the same problem. Candian phone, Unlocked Bell version on th eTELUS network. did you find a solution?

Hi,

No i have the Indian version. I contated sony rergarding this and gave them a detailed report of the troubles i am facing. They let me know that in Z5 if it senses any malfuntioning in the fingerprint sensor, the sensor is automatically shutted off.This problem can only be rectified by giving to a sony or sony authorized service centre
