Wifi speed stuck at 65MBPS

Hi, first of all i'm sorry for my english

I'm optimizing my home network to get a better WIFI speed because i'm trying to use my Z3 with my PS4 and i've seen that the most of the portable devices stuck on 65MBPS. I've tested this:

- Xperia XS: 65mpbs

- Xperia S: 65mbps

- Xperia Z3: 65mbps

- Samsung Galaxy Ace 2: 65mbps

- Sony Tablet S: 65mbps

- Dogee: 135Mbps

- Dell Alienware PC: 270mbps

- Compaq PC: 135mbps

I see that some devices can reach up to 135Mbps and faster then i think that is not a wifi problem. The cheaper phone of my home (dogee) get a better wifi speed.

Are the Xperia Phones limited to 65mbps by hardware or similar?

Wifi has different bands but the main two have speeds of 2.5Ghz and 5Ghz so if your phone isn't compatible with the 5Ghz band then you won't receive that speed also if your Router doesn't support or the 5Ghz speed isn't enabled then that's also the another reason why

Thanks for the posts, but there are the same question with no fix.

My phone is an Xperia Z3 and is compatible even with 5GHZ Wifin N band. Maybe my router is not compatible with 5GHZ band but other devices are getting higher speeds with that router. My alienware have a 270mbps link for example, and my mom phone is older and cheaper than the Z3 and is getting a 135mbps connection... Only the Sony and Samsung devices are getting the 65mbps link.

I've configured the router to use the N band and the 40mhz bandwidth.

This has to do with how many spatial streams the devices supports and the channel width on your router/access point.

Even if you select 40MHz channel width in your router/access point it should (and does in this case) use 20Mhz if there are other networks in range. Using 40Mhz with would take up two thirds of the 2.4GHz band and if there are more networks in range you should not use 40Mhz.

On 20Mhz channel width you will get 65mbps on a spatial stream using 802.11n and the Xperia products you have supports one spatial stream.

Your Compaq and Dogee must support two spatial streams meaning you get twice the speed while your dell must support 4 assuming all are on 2.4GHz.

To increase the connection speed for your Z3 you need to get a new router/access point that supports 802.11ac and/or 5GHz. The 5GHz band is usually less crowded which means that in most cases you can use a greater channel width.

Thanks for the info. Now i've changed some things in the wifi configuration and all devices are getting a little better speeds (300mbps, 72mbps...).

Maybe one day i'll decide to change the router, but is a FTTH router and are expensive. Maybe i'll buy another router connected by Gigalan.

Yes, in that case i would also get an access point instead or a router that can be set to act as an access point and connect it with a cable to the existing router (i use that setup myself at home). But if both are placed near eachother it may be a good idea to turn off the WiFi on the router or use one for 2.4 only and one for 5Ghz only.
