Ringtone volume setting grayed out

I have a Z3 Compact with Android 5.1.1. The problem is that I cannot change the volume of the ringtone. I don't have any other sound issues. As you can see from the screenshot, the ringtone volume setting is grayed out. Any idea of what could be wrong?

@Ikomz Settings-apps-all,tap on 3 dots and reset app preferences. Check again.

Boot in safe mode. Does the same problem occur?

Yes, it's still grayed out.

You may need to perform a software repair using PC Companion.The process will erase all internal memory.You might need to charge your device for about 1-2 hours before so the device has at least 80% battery.

Make sure the device is not connected to computer or laptop and turned off (sometimes you have to press power button and volume up until the device vibrates 3 times or on some devices you have to press the small button near the SIM tray or on the back of the device).

Open PC companion->support zone->phone/tablet software update->repair my phone/tablet blue highlighted.Follow the steps given,do not connect your phone until prompted to press volume down while plugging USB cable. If PC companion does not start the repair process, you might need to run it in compatibility mode with Windows 7 (in some cases XP).

Ok, I will try that. I have a Mac, but I suppose Sony Bridge will do the same thing? Thaks for your help!

So if I am erasing all internal memory, how do protect all the documents and files I want to keep.
In the second paragraph, how do your directions apply to what I am doing? Am I meant to be turning phone off and taking the SIM card out before starting PC companion?

Just start the repair process, all the steps are given there. Why PCC won't open?

I had thé same problem, restoring the factory settings worked but I lost most of my data... (not the photos though). But it happened several times (this is the fourth), is there was another way that does not include resetting the phone?

This was the solution for me as well:

"My phone was on do not disturb, when I cancelled that the slider moved again... Hope it helps somebody"

locate the "do not disturb" setting and disable it.
