Can't select 20.7mp in superior auto mode

yesterday night after updating android M i'm not able to select 20.7mp in superior auto mode only options are 8Mp(16:9) and 8Mp(4:3). i'm stuck with 8Mp camera in 20.7mp phone. 20.7 mp works in manual mode but i can not do any settings. Please solve this issue android L is much better and do not you people do testing before releasing??

That was the same on Lollipop, Superior Auto works on 8mp

That's odd, as Superior Auto use pixel binning, and reduces the pictures to 8MP, @alexdon could you test this on your Z2?

@uliwooly @vikram_shadow I will check but the Z2 didn't get MM yet. Are you sure it worked before? I thought only new devices have more than 8MP on superior auto.

As far as I know mm has arrived on some Z2 but I've never heard of a Z2 being able to select more than 8mp for auto mode, only Z5 using new sensor can.

20.7mp is not available in superior auto mode in Z2. You need to switch to manual to use this resolution. It was the same on Android 5.1 so it's not something that has been removed in the Android 6.0 update.

I own a Sony Xperia Z2 model - D 6502. I recently upgraded my android OS to marshmallow. I found in camera settings is has settings upto 8Mp only and not 20.7Mp. Kindly tell me how can set my camera to capture images of 20.7Mp.

Actually in manual mode you can select if 16.9 or 4.3 - If you select 16.9 it will shot at 8mpx, but if you select 4.3 you should be able to get the maximum resolution available.

Xperia z2 camera problem after upgrading to android marshmallow

I have upgraded Xperia z2 to android marshmallow. I am unable to use the full resolution of the camera. I am able to use only 8 Mega pixel instead of 20 Mega pixel in auto mode. When I change to 20 mega pixel in manual mode the apps corresponding with camera application are not working.

Auto Mode has never supported 20MP until Z5 series due to cpu and sensor limitations.
In manual, which apps are not working?

In android 5.1 for xperia z2 in manual mode the apps were working with 20 Mp but in android 6.0 with 20 Mp camera apps are not working

It seem that when you buy a Sony phone for its technical specifications, those specs may only last until the next Android upgrade. After that your phone could be downgraded, a sorry state of affairs Sony.

I bought this phone for its 20mp camera as advertised, not 8mp as is the reality on 'Superior Auto', which should be re-named Inferior Auto.

The app that come with the camera can only be used in Inferior Auto mode, so the Z2 has been wrongly advertised.

I am contacting Trading Standards concerning this, we should not be left with an inferior product just because of a software upgrade. I bought my Z2 before Lollipop upgrade, if this 8mp was the same before Lollipop, then the phone has been miss-advertised and goes against UK consumer law. If you bought this phone with Lollipop, it has definitely been miss-advertised as the default setting is Superior Auto, which only gives 8mp.

I don't understand you, but nothing has changed, superior auto utilize pixel binning so it will be limited at 8mp, if you want to use 20.7mp switch to manual mode, but the way it's the same camera app.

Xperia Z2 Camera Resolution

Hi, it's been known to all that the latest Marshmallow update for Xperia Z2 made its camera performance drops dramatically, where in the camera settings we are only given options for only up to 8MP resolution while the exact specs of Xperia Z2 camera is 20MP. Is Sony working on this right now or is it going to be left just like that? I really need an answer because if it's not going to be fixed then I guess reinstalling the older Lollipop firmware seems the better and smarter choice.

did you actually try to open the camera settings and then changing the resolution to 20mp?
