Z5 Compact - Camera problems since Marshmallow update

Is there a planned fix in the works for the camera? Presently, the video camera is useless as it stutters and lags horribly. The only video mode that doesn't stutter is Mms which is grainy and low res.

Whenever I run the camera, I ensure all other apps are closed; in case it is a memory issue. I've tried rebooting it and disabling services to no avail.

The still camera also has issues now too. The camera never properly focuses. Each time I try to take a picture, the camera properly focuses in the viewfinder and then takes a blurry picture.

The camera worked fine prior to the last update. I've tried using Google's camera which records okay video, but had the same trouble taking still pictures.

Please help!

Do you have your camera set to save to the SD card or the internal memory?

I've tried both. At first it was my SD card, but it has the problem on internal storage too.

How to boot on safe mode on Lolipop
1. press and hold the power key
2. once you get the pop up menu
3. press and hold "power off"
4. Boot on safe mode should become available

This problem is still not resolved even with the most recent software update to 32.1.A.1.185. Any plans to fix this, Sony???

Same here. It's really disappointing. Was wondering whether enough tests have been done before rolling the updates. Hope it will be fixed asap.

I have the same problem, pics i made last week 100%. since the update horror.

In save mode, the same.

Sony fix this, in 14 days i go on holliday and i need the cam!!

Sony,

Why are you ignoring us? See the two included pictures. The first is through the viewfinder before the picture is taken and the second shows how when you snap the picture, it goes blurry. This is using the built-in diagnostics.

I have not yet tried that. I'm not nuts about wiping my phone for something that may or may not do the trick.

I'm mostly hesitant, because another feature that has not worked since the update is the backup / restore program. It always freezes at 50% whether I try to backup to my internal memory or my SD card. The online backup doesn't work at all. It freezes while signing in.

I'll see if I can back it up using the companion program on my computer at home, tonight.

I know it is a separate issue, but here is what my backup program does. The first 50% completes in about one minute. I've left it at 50% for hours and it never finishes.

Try the back up on your computer using Xperia Companion or PC Companion.

Yeah, thats kinda also buggy, at least for me. It takes forever to store 1.2Gb of backup data from phone (pictures and videos are not included since on SD)...

I just ran the software repair as you instructed and it did not fix the problem. The still camera still takes fuzzy pictures and the video camera is atrocious. The video camera is only taking about 1 frame every 5-10 seconds. This is after a fresh re-install and is exactly as it was in safe mode. This problem did not exist before the last software update.

...And the backup/restore program through PC Companion didn't work right either. It claimed it restored everything, but I lost a lot of my apps and customizations. I might as well have started over. This is getting to be a real pain.

My phone is in even worse shape now. My work email will no longer synchronize. It restored the account, but told me the password was wrong. If I go into accounts, under settings, it's not there. When I try to add it again, it fails each time. At least before, it was just my camera that doesn't work. This really !
