Email - Exchange sync very slow

I have recently purchased a Xperia Z2 Tablet running Android 4.4.2, and find that Exchange Active Sync to my MS Exchange 2013 server is VERY VERY slow.

Tried various configs/setting but no avail.

Anybody else having this problem, if so any solutions?

I was having problems setting up my emails for about 2 weeks. I kept getting the error message "Couldn't finish. Couldn't open connection to server". I downloaded an app by Sony called Email - SmartExtras onto my Sony xperia e phone. I then went into settings - apps - all. Pressed menu bar and clicked on reset all applications. I then went back and began to set up my emails again, putting in my email address and password only. The email setup just flowed through automatically.
