I know this may sound a waste of time. I bought a Sony hi-fi at a Car Boot Sale. (Told it worked) but the CD reader "says Can't read CD" Should I just throw it away - I did not pay a lot of money for it. - Which should have been a hint!

did you try with a CD or CD-R? or both?

if both doens't work then yes the lens is probably defective
