Frustration with apps

I'll admit to not being a genius with a computer. I have an Imac which is fully updated.

I bought a ILCE 7M2 after alwaws using Canon.

Want to have a go at timelapse. Discover I need to download an app.

Discover this is impossible. Yes i've upgraded my firmware.

The downloader app wont run on the computer just goes round in circles.

Attaching the camea to Playmemories just goes around in a loop of verify the camera.

Direct app download via camera just keeps telling me to put the correct date/ time in, I have.

Are all my Sony experiences going to be like this? Am I just doing something fundamentally wrong?

Thank you Portmixus. I have now got further than ever before the camera is asking for log in to Sony entrertainment. Won't go past user name. Do I have to add camera to something first.

I created an account by the way but can only see play stations and things , no cameras.
