Automatic switch between finder/monitor doesn't work

Hi my finder/monitor has stopped switching automatically. the view finder is clean. The finder/monitor switch is on Auto. Only had the A9 a couple of months and disapponted with this.

I've seen this caused by dust or water on the eye sensor. Remove the rubber eyecup and clean and all should be well.
