<DESPERATION>Grrrrrrrrrr</DESPERATION>

I own a Sony VAio A317M...and am trying to get my USB TV Tuner working...and after installing the drivers for the hardware and the application software, everything is going on well. No problems.

But when I launch the application for tuning channels, it says NO HARDWARE FOUND. Damn!!!

The harware is recognised by the Device MAnager and is under Sound, Video and Game Controllers and the status is: Device is working properly!

This is not the first such DVB USB TV Tuner i have tried to install and is my fourth such device after getting the same message with three other TV tuners including: Pinnacle, Hauppage, AverMEdia and currently Artec.
The same tuner works well on my other Toshiba laptop and a friend of mine says to me that it is the problem with the SONY USB CHIPSET. And hence the incompatibility problems. I ahve also checked on the Power Management and have unticked the Power Consumption option to ensure that the device gets 500mA of power...still no use..

Can anyone help me to fix this problem..i ahve aleady returned 3 TV tuners back to the shop thinking that it was the problem with the device
<DESPERATION>Grrrrrrrrrr</DESPERATION>

Cheers,
G2

I've used usb TV receivers on both of my Vaios with total success, however neither are A series. Have you tried using a powered usb hub to see if it is a problem with lack of current?

Not an ideal solution but at least it will tell you if lack of power is the problem . . .
