BATTERY TIME INCORRECT

Hi,

My Vaio Notebook k215z shows the remaining time of the battery incorrect (4h remaining and after 30 mins shows 2h10m) is that an issue? Or is normal.. is there an application or a driver to fix this?

Sometimes the battery time does go askew.

With this tool, you can configure the Power setting of the harddisc. But it saves not much energy. It must be only some minutes. I would look at the specifications of your harddisc. You can find it on the Hitachi site. Have a look at the energy consumption.
I have deactivate the energy safe mode on my harddisc, because I use my laptop on the AC power supply the most time. Normally(with energy safe mode) the harddisc switch of, if it doesn't use. But it's better for the harddisk lifetime if this feature off.

Yes I have a Travelstar 80GN, which has 60GB. It's relativ fast drive with a low energy consumption. But in a FR315S.

I see .. I knew something about the lifetime of the HDD if it shutdowns and then starts again it makes the life time shorter.. then with that utility i wont gain so much time to use my batteries?

I still have one question which i dont understand why the time for battery is very "relative" when the battery is full charged it shows to me 4h and after some time it shows me fewer..the leap is too much..
I mean the calculated time is not accurate... is there a driver or something to fix this problem..or for all notebooks is a common problem?

Nah, the thing is, that a starting HDD need more energy as a running HDD with a low speed.

I know this problem from my VAIO. But Sony must fix this problem. A friend of me has a cheap Gericom laptop, and there is a feature in the BIOS which measures the accurate Battery capacity and the time. After this he can see the correct Battery lifetime. SonyVAIOs doesn't have this feature.

You need the "Feature Tool(v1.97)" It create a Boot Floppydisc or a bootable CD. If you have started the tool, I would read the helpfile first.

If you want use the "Power Booster", then you can change the power settings too. (But from Windows). I have tried the PowerBooster but I can't find any different. So, I prefer the "Feature Tool"

I am reading the PDF file.. and whats with the accustic feature? is it really good or it can harm my hdd..

You can reduce or higher the seek time a little bit. But the differents are minimal.

Hitachi wouldn't make tools which would harm a HDD.

My hdd temp is 48c now.. is it good?

I don't know. A good ambient temperature for the 80GN is 5-55 degrees. For the Duraster it's -20 - 85 degrees.

You must look at the Datasheet of your HDD to find out wich temperatur is good.
You can use Everest home edition to find out which Hitachi HDD do you have.

That's no problem, but I would charge and discharge the battery approx all 2 weeks. And minimal one per month.
