My Sony Vaio model - VGC-LN1M.

I've read on the official Sony Vaio site that the maximum amount of memory that can be installed onto this model is 4GB. Fair enough, but on this website (http://www.memory-express.co.uk/M--Sony--Vaio+Desktop--VGC-LN1M.html?utm_campaign=froogle_memory&utm_source=Froogle&utm_medium=lead&utm_content=Sony+Vaio+Desktop+VGC-LN1M/1=), halfway down it shows a table stating that the maximum amount of memory that can be installed is 8GB.

So I'm confused. How much memory can I install?

According to the Sony LN1M specifications your Vaio can support a maximum of 4GB, use the following link to view the(LN1M specifications ).

The 32 bit version of Vista can only handle a maximum of 4GB of RAM..

However the maximum 4GB of RAM is not always shown by Vista this is due to Vista allocating RAM to devices such as graphics cards etc but if you have installed matching 2GB memory modules your Vaio will benefit from the performance advantages offered by dual-channel support..

I'm thinking of buying from here because the prices are excellent.

When you say 'matching pairs'. Do you mean that the two memory modules should be exactly the same (identical in every way). So it wouldn't be worth just getting a 2GB memory module to replace the 1GB in my PC as to get optimal performance it's best to replace both of them?
