At present it will boot up with out any POST screen and not even a POST beep.

Beginning to think the mobo has blown or something:smileycry:

Considering its a desktop machine, will it need to be taken away or can an engineer come out to my address for the repair?

If it does have to be taken away I hope they dont nuke the HDD as that seems to be ok.

I don't know for sure but I don't think for one minute Sony will come to you. I am almost certain it will be a "return to base" under the terms of the warranty.

Looking on the bright side! at least you no longer have a problem which only might occur when you return the machine.

Hope you have the original box.

I just hope that they don't fix the "New" problem and return it with a noisy fan.

I hope I am being overly pessimistic:smileygrin:

William

So you're saying the VAIO boots to Windows without a POST beep? Impossible usually?

No no, sorry my wording on my last statement was a bit messed up.

The machine turns on and i get the usual powering up sounds but nothing on screen. There is definitely NO POST beep and it will not go into windows or even BIOS. All I am literally getting is a blank screen saying "No Input Signal".

I know the screen is fine because it works fine on my laptop and another PC.

Unfortunately I do not have the original box. What will happen in this case?

Last time I sent my VAIO laptop off for repair they provided a box for it with padding, the lot. Dont suppose Ill get the same treatment this time round considering its a desktop???

I work in a support job so I am kind of thinking that it may be a toss up between either the mobo, GFX card or the AGP slot may be knackered (in which case it would mean a new mobo anyway)?!?!?!?
