topic Pre Installed Software in PCs & Accessories

Having done a clean install of Window 7 64b on my Vaio VGN FW48E I am without the original Sony software that came preinstalled. I don't expect to replace all of it but am growing increasingly frustrated that Sony don't seem to offer a download for the original Sony branded software, movie story, music box, windvd etc, I have also lost the XMB facility from the AV Mode button. Any suggestions please !

Unfortunately, all the preinstalled software is only licensed for use with the Sony Operating System and if you carry out a clean install, you will lose it and, as you have found out, you cannot download most of it.

Software providers like Corel (WinDVD) will not allow a download of their product or everyone would pirate it! Therefore, the arrangement is that it can only be installed as part of the Sony OS.

The only solution is to carry out an UPGRADE installation of Windows 7 which will retain all settings, programs, data etc and will retain all the preinstalled software.

For the AV Mode, have you reinstalled all the Sony drivers and utilitiy programs from the Vaio Support website?

http://support.vaio.sony.eu/computing/vaio/downloads/updates/index.aspx?l=en_GB&m=VGN-FW48E_H&os=10
