product key on base of laptop computer not accepted as product key requested to open items on computer. Is there any other number I can use?

Exactly what are you trying to open that requires a Product Key?

As far as I am aware, Windows never asks for the product key on the bottom of the latptop. That product key is for the OEM version of Windows 7 only.

Are you sure you are not opening the trial versions installed on your Vaio? Some of these require a Product Key to be purchased to upgrade to the full versions.
