    <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;If there is no distortion from the headphones then there is a fair chance that the problem is hardware related.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Unfortunately, in order to eliminate third party software as the cause, I have a feeling that support will ask you to do a further factory reset before accepting it for repair &lt;img class="lia-deferred-image lia-image-emoji" src="https://community.sony.co.uk/html/@8A5BDCECEE2E5AB683F2BDAA500F2036/images/smilies/035.png" alt=":slight_frown:" title=":slight_frown:" /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>

      <title>My sound keeps distorting</title>

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;I've only had my laptop about 3 month and now my sound had started to distort. Can anyone help? I hope it's not a hardware problem...Had to format the other week because a virus had messed up my computer files, about a week after is when it started to distort the sound when watching videos, playing music etc.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>

Right click the speaker icon in the system tray and select Sounds &amp;gt; on the playback tab select Speaker/HP and then click properties &amp;gt; on the enhancements tab check ‘Disable all sound effects’ and then apply.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;2 Check Vaio Support for updated audio drivers.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;3 Uninstall the device in Device Manager and then reboot and reinstall drivers.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;4 If by any chance you have installed any third party audio software since the recovery then try uninstalling .&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>

Click on Speaker/HP and then Properties &amp;gt; Levels.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Under Audio Output click Balance.
