topic PCG-FX101 Bios Upgrade in PCs & Accessories

I have an old PCG-FX101 on to which I have installed Ubuntu 8.01. Long story short the new Wireless Belkin G network card I purchased is causing me some issues. I had to specify acpi=off on the boot command for Ubuntu to make it work. On inserting the card Ubunbtu claims that cardbus cards are not supported.

Something I read said this was caused by the acpi=off option and that upgrading the BIOS would resolve both issues,

The machine currently has a bios version of R0211U0. I tried downloading the latest ME, Windows 2000 and the XP bios versions from the Sony site but all of them fail complaining that the Bios part numbers do not match.

Does anyone have and clues please?
