Hello,

I'm having problems with the sound on my CR-series Vaio. I get noises when Windows starts up, but not when I try to play DVDs. I have tried different media players, which makes me think that the problem is with the laptop itself. The speaker is 'working properly' according to the control panel. However, when I run the tests, although I can see the graphic for a sound wave leaving the computer, I cannot hear anything.

Does anyone know what I need to do to get my sound back?

What model CR do you have and have you recently installed the Vista SP1 update.?

Hi Thalamus,

I have a VGN-CR21S and, yes, I have recently installed the SP1 update. Shortly before the sound made its untimely exit, now that I come to think of it. Do you know what I can do to fix the problem?

There is a BIOS Update R1120Q0 available for this specific problem. You will find it in the list of manual downloads for your model here: -

Follow the instructions carefully.
