VGN-FS295XP Unusable - Screen flickers - Cant do backup!

I purchased this laptop for £1,000 and after only one year the keyboard failed!! I would have expected more from a Sony Notebook.

However I now have a more urgent problem - Each time I turn the Notebook on, the screen flickers very badly and uncontrollably, so that I am unable to use the Notebook at all now, My problem is that I want to back up to an external HDD before the poor thing dies altogether. Is this going to be possible somehow?? And any idea as to why the screen is flickering??

The screen flickering sounds like the inverter or it also could possibly be a faulty cable or backlight bulb..

My problem is that I want to back up to an external HDD before the poor thing dies altogether. Is this going to be possible somehow??

Have tried connecting your Vaio to an external monitor, hopefully that would enable you to see to back up your data..

This would involve dismantling your Vaio, if you feel this is to much for you then I suggest you either take your Vaio to a local technician or contact Sony Vaio support, you can do this either by phone or via e-Support, use the following link to find the contact details: Sony Vaio Support

If you don't see a picture after connecting the monitor try pressing FN and the F7 key..
