recently i reinstalled xp on my vaio VGN-S3HP and it is kind of up and running ok. i have the drivers tht come with the laptop on the revoery disks but the audio one says i need to install microsoft bus drivers. where can i find this. Also i think i need to install a graphics driver, as when i try and change the screen resolution i cant change it, there is only two settings...and both dont fit my laptop, also i like to hav dual screens but it wont let me do that either, the other screen i link to is a LG Flatron L1715S. Is there anything i can do to change this?. Lastly I cannot get a LAN connection to show up in network connections, all there is is Wireless Network connection and a 1396 connection. What do i need to do to get a LAN connection to show up there, on my other computer i have to install a driver but i cant find which one to get for my laptop. I am using a VGN-S3HP
All help will be much appreciated
Thanks

hi thanks for such a quick reply
its nice to be here
it came with xp pro but i only had a home disk and a serial from my desktop so i thought it would be ok, ive been through loads of trouble to get it running properly
i can get a pro edition of my friend, if tht would sort all the problems?
i dloaded the preinstalled drivers but they seemed the same as on my system and seemed to do nothing
since my last post i have read other peoples posts with netwrok problems an have dloaded Intel Pro 100/1000 and my LAN connection is now working
In the drivers package it didnt have an installer for the graphics, only an uninstall....why is this?, when i scroll up and down a page it is slow and juddery though i think its the graphics not the performance as everythin else loads really quick.
do you have any idea about the graphic or audio driver problems i have?
thanks a bunch

I'm guessing as you did not know about the recovery utility that you did not create a set of recovery disc's..?

The recovery utility is stored in a hidden partition on your hard drive but as you have installed MS Home on your Vaio this has probably deleted this partition. However you could try pressing F10 when booting up your vaio as this should start the recovery process, if the partition is still intact..

If this fails you can purchase a set of recovery discs either by phone, Fax or E-support from Vaio-Link unfortunately they cost approx £55..:smileysad:
