Customising the Home Screen

Is there any way of customising the different screens now.

Before upgrading to Android 4 there used to be a + icon at the top of the screen which let you add and delete shortcuts etc. This appears to have been removed.

I can delete shortcuts easily, but not add them on the screen of my choice.

If you tap Apps & Widgets, you can still tap and hold to drag the app or widget on to the homesceen of your choice.

It's now been improved further by allowing you to drop them on top of each other to create groups - which is great!

I hadn't thought of trying that, and I agree it does work much better.
