My Xperia Tablet Z doesn't update to the latest software update

Dear Sir/Madam,

I have difficulty to update to the latest version of xperia tablet z firmware.

I bought my xperia tablet z wifi while I was studying in Japan back in August 2013 at Bic Camera store, I'm back in Indonesia right now. when I connected my tablet to Sony PC companion it says that my tablet is up to date, while it's not.

In xperia website it says that the latest firmware is 4.4

But my tablet z is still on 4.2.2

In other words you have 2 options

1. wait for the update to be approved and released for that specific model and in that country/region

2. manually update your Xperia Tablet Z with Flashtool

Hi uliwooly,

how do I know which version is approved and released in my country?

and for update with flashtool, would the procedure be newbie-friendly? or do I need some technical knowledge to flash with flashtool? I read somewhere that there would be possibility of "brick-ing" when I use flash tool. Can I "un-brick" my tablet when that happens?

Also which country version that I should use for updating using flashtool? or any country version is fine?

Its not your country, it will be Japan in this case since the Tablet was bought at Japan.

Okay, got it. I will read carefully and try to understand what do I need to do to update using flashtool.

I will contact Japan's xperia care to find out which version is the latest.
