Z4 tablet wont connect

this tablet just wont connect to PC companion or anything on the PC.

tried all the standard stuff with new cable, usb port ...

and no, i wont reinstall windows to fix it. my pc and the tablet run perfectly independently.

frankly I expect this to be automatic on plug in without any irrelevant choices to be made

I'm sorry to hear about that.

Is your tablet charging when it's connected to your computer?

I would recommend that you download Xperia Companion, which is available for both Windows and Mac, since PC Companion is longer supported and have been discontinued.

Let me know how it works with Xperia Companion!

Do you have another computer that you can connect your tablet to? Or if you can borrow a computer from a friend, family member or colleague or visit them and try plugging in your tablet in their computer.

Should you experience the same troubles with another computer I would recommend that you contact your Local support team so they can assist you with getting your tablet sent in to an authorized service centre.

forget the standard beginner stuff.

i have the latest intel NUC system with updated win 10 and it is working just fine.

but my system fails to install an unknown mtp device driver.

is it possible that sony z4 drivers are rejected by win 10 driver enforcement default?

I'm sorry for the late response, I have been out of office due to vacation!

I just tried connecting an Xperia Z4 Tablet to 3 different computers running Windows 10 and there were no troubles for either of the computers to install the correct MTP drivers so I could access the tablet with Xperia Companion or a file manager.

Did you try to connect the tablet to a different computer, if so how did that work? Were you able to install the MTP drivers on that computer?
