Message Screen overlay detected appears

Keep getting 'screen overlay detected, go to settings, apps and turn screen overlay off. I have turned this off on every app but, it has made no difference. I can no longer use attachments in email and turn on storage permissions etc.

Does this message appear when starting a specific app? If so, does that specific app have all the latest updates installed?

@Maximblue Do you have clean master installed? Can you check if the same occurs in safe mode?

This appears when using email forwarding or attaching. I have just completed the Sony update. The email was perfect before that. I am using a Sony Xperia Z3 compact tablet. Had it for over a year and it has been perfect.

Hi @Chelly,

If this does not happen while in safe mode then it is caused by a third party application in your phone. Unfortunately you cannot see exactly which one it is. I would recommend that you start by updating all your downloaded apps, should that not help you will unfortunately have to uninstall your downloaded apps in order to try and find the one that is causing this to happen.

I've encountered the same issue when i first upgraded to 6.0 and solved it by just restarting the device. Working fine until the last update. Every applications asking for permission. I disabled screen overlay but keep the facebook messenger on to use the chat head. Now i can't set permission to apps unless I close the messenger bubble. It's very frustrating and annoying! I keep on setting permissions on my apps but the next time I use it, it will ask for permission again. Everything started after the recent update. Xperia z2

I'm facing this problem since last night when I repaired my Xperia Z3 and it's ridiculous. Nothing working fine. Please help. I restated the device too.

Hi @Uthman92,

After you repaired the software, did you restore any backup or reinstall any apps? If you did, does the same thing happen if you reboot your phone to safe mode?

Found another post where problem was caused by Clean Master and same happened on my z3 compact. Uninstalling it did the trick.
