Can anyone please tell me how I can use my old Sony DAV-SC8 surround sound speakers with my new Sony Bravia TV and PS3?

I forgot to say, I bought an optical cable, but not sure whether to plug it into the DAV-SC8 and PS3 or the TV (tried both) and not sure which settings to change in TV and/or PS3!

Can anyone please tell me how I can use my old Sony DAV-SC8 surround sound speakers with my new Sony Bravia TV and PS3?

Many thanks thats great, I'll give it a go. Do you know which settings to change in TV and/or PS3? It asked me to select an output format for my old DAV-SC8, but I had no idea which to select (dolby 5.1???)

Hi,

you should be able to set DTS to DTS and DD to DD, otherwise if you can select Auto then do that.

Many thanks, but I don't recall seeing DTS or DD in any of the settings on the PS3 or the Bravia TV, could you please tell me where I find them? Also, do I connect the optical cable betwwen my old DAV-SC8 and the PS3 or the Bravia TV?

use optical to the DAV,

You will need to go from the PS3 to the system (not the tv) and then select Digital Out (Optical) in the Audio Output Settings on the PS3.

i did try connecting one end of the optical cable to my old home cinema DAV-SC8 and the other end to the PS3, rather than the TV, but that didn't work either - perhaps I messed up when asked to select an output format as I didn't know which of the several options to select! Should it be the dolby 5.1 option?

It has to be connected to the DAV-SC8 and I'm pretty sure you can select all the audio options as it will automatically select which ever signal is being used.

Just make sure you select the optical for the sound output options...

It's not a simple case of selecting the correct sound option on the DAV is it? Make sure you are definitely selecting Optical on it when using the PS3.
