Sleep mode not always kicking in.

Think it's called sleep mode. You know when you stop using the phone and the screen goes black? I find it randomly decides not to do it and will stay on for hours.

I have tried turning Ambient off and changing the time before it starts but it just keeps happening. Pressing the square on bottom right of screen shows nothing else is open, can't figure out what might be causing it

hello @roninxg

can you try to check if you have the SmartLock options are enabled? settings>SECURITY

or try to boot to safe mode by long tapping power off. then set your sleep setting to 15 secs. and see if it works

Which app is in the foreground if any.

In my case when maps.me is active it will stay active forever.

@MarlonUk1 suggested safe mode.

Is there a difference when you're in safe mode or none?

Hi, apologies for slow replies, Im working shifts and a bit all over the place. I really am greatful for any assistance, i promise:)

The screensaver still kicks in randomly, but likes of last night it didnt go off for over 6 hours while I was away working.

Im not sure what you mean Strampke. How do I establish what apps are running in the background, I have only done a press on the square in bottom right of screen, even when this shows "No recent Items" the issue can still happen.

Im not sure if you are asking me if the screensaver kicks in when in Safe mode or not. I will try tto attach a screenshot of the home screen while in safe mode and at the moment in safe mode the  screen saver is kicking in.

Im also noticing the game I play, solitaire can cause it to happen too, even in the middle of playing the game, if it goes to some graphic celebration type thing, the screensaver kicks in, even when its less than 15 seconds. I tried removing the game from phone but screensaver still didnt work properly.

The weird thing is that theres nothing on my Xperia 1ii thats not on the Xperia zx which never had any issues at all. 😞

ThinkI may have to start uninstalling apps one at a time, its just that its so random it will take forever to find out the cause 😞Screenshot_20200715-113841.jpg

 What I meant was this.

All apps (the ones active that are shown when you swipe up from the home button on the screen) are in the background when your home screen is in the foreground.

When I open a map app like Windy maps and see this map in the foreground the my device doesn't go to sleep.

If your device is working as expected in safe mode (like you showed on the screenshot) and doesn't go to sleep as expected in normal mode then it is very likely that an app is interfering.

You can delete apps to find out.

You can also open the support app on your device and tap Device Overview to see if apps are causing trouble.

When I have serious trouble with my device and I cannot find a quick solution I backup and do a Software repair with Xperia Companion.

Watch the Sony Xperia Support Channel on Youtube to learn how to.

After the software repair do NOT restore everything, you might restore the troublemaker as well.

Just install the most needed apps.

Your reward will be a device that acts like new.

BTW To learn how to use the many options of you Xperia 1 mk2 like Cinema Pro and Photography Pro you can take a look at the Sony Xperia Channel

Don't forget to restart after every off to clear the memory.

For instance, look at the reviews of Freecell, and it locking up the screens, and having the ability to alter the system volume levels...

It's definitely an app you have.

Maybe I'm jaded, but I tend to stay away from apps that say, "contains ads", as they usually intrude in some way or other.

Still working my way through the apps, but it looks like its the AVG app that came originally with the Xperia xz and I just transferred over. Not certain though as its random and Ive got another 30 apps to do
