Xperia 1 ii switch off 5g

Hi, I am having a problem where my phone detects a 5g network and switches to it but the connection is terrible. The phone will not automatically switch back to 4g even though it's unusable.

There is no option for 4g only in the settings - anyone have this issue? It know how to force the phone to switch?

What options do you get when you open Settings → Network & Internet  Mobile network  Preferred network type?

I don't have any options just one selection that says 5g/4g/3g/2g

Move to another network sometimes helps.

It's not ee you are on is it?

Have you tried a different SIM card?

I am on EE but they reckon I am all set up for 5g. There is only one place locally to check and that's where I am having the issue.

I think we ought to have an option to turn it off but it doesn't seem like it!

Try searching for the available networks, Settings > Network & internet > Mobile network > Advanced. then tap the Automatically select network switch to disable the function, then select a network.

Ahh. That seems like a good shout as I can see different versions of the EE network. I'll try that when I'm back in a 5 g area but seems worth a go.

Thanks for the response

Hiya mate, I'm having the same issues that i cant turn off the 5g, the only option is "5g,4g,3g,2g" to select as one thing, i can select the other ee networks like 4g, 3g,2g but when i do it just switches straight back to the automatic all encompassing "5432g", any ideas?
